A Known Stranger

Along the road I met a stranger,
Talking to him might have been a danger,
The weather was still, the street was silent,
He began to walk towards me, at the next instant!

Trembling with fear I chose to run,
From the old man, who was in search of bun.
Until a time came, I had to stop,
I was unable to run, n it was hard to hop!

He came closer to me yet again,
I was waiting for my conscience to regain.
He was a frail old guy with a sun lit smile,
After looking at him I was sure to run a mile!

I proceeded to help the man, with bread;
A mile was passed, but i wasn’t afraid!
I found a tap which had no water,
I had to wait a while, to get it later!

My fellow companion drank it heartily,
I watched him gulp the water, happily.
A silent road, cold chilly wind,
With a stranger around, anyone could freeze!

But he was unlike others,
With wicked minds, n hats with feathers!
For he seemed, as innocent as a baby,
I thought i knew him! Yeah may be!

We spent some silent endless moments together,
Soon it was time for our departure,
He had a long way to go, n so did I,
But i could not leave him without a sigh!

At that hour of midnight I thought,
Something was there, which I surely forgot!
I began to ponder over sitting on a rock,
At last it was midnight, I could hear the clock!

I looked about and found no one around;
The old fellow made no sound!
He was gone! Yes, he indeed was gone!
Leaving me again in the woods, all alone!

The tears in my eyes prevented me to see,
The bag of gold, the stranger had left for me!
I opened it with the most excitement,
To find a golden heart, which was ‘content’!
