Coastal Diaries

The sun shone obliquely over them. It would soon near the horizon. This day they, and the year they were bidding an adieu was very special, to both of them. A year back they had seen each other the first time, and life was no more the same for them. Love at first sight it was. Everyone’s prior consent was the pleasant twist in the tale.

She looked at his tanned body. Those well built forearms she had always dreamt of. His athletic body would drive her crazy. She held his hand that was lying on the sand and intertwined her fingers in them. She glanced upon her ring, which adorned her long n slender fingers. A by-product of getting together with a fitness freak. She loved the health n fitness she had earned in his companionship. Loved her own dusky skin which was tanned a shade darker. She loved how she complemented him in such minor details.

The waves were splashing. Water approaching them inch at a time. The sun-rays danced on the surface of the sea, and shone brightly. Myriad of diamonds shone brilliantly with every blow of wind. She looked around at the other couples sitting around, soaking in the location she had always dreamt of visiting. Now it was her new home. He firmed his grip as the wind blew colder. She moved even closer to him so as to not let any air pass by between the two of them. Leaning on him, she could feel his heart beats sync with hers. She felt peaceful.

The sun swiftly crossed beyond the line of horizon. They continued to sit there taking in the scenario. The atmosphere was getting rather cold for the month of June. They remained sitting on the warm sand and listening to the background music of waves. She glanced onto his face, and remembered the first time she had seen his photo and how she was thoroughly teased by her best friend. A smile spread across her face. She realised that the face in that photo back then, was now in the reach of her hands. She ran her hand on his clean shaved cheeks. She wondered how he might look with stubble. The orderly him always chose to remain neat n tidy, whereas she loved to see his unkempt hair right out of the bed.

Soon the reddish orange hued backdrop was transformed into purples n blues. Soon merging into the dark. The diamonds from the surface of the water seemed to have moved on and taken new places up in the sky. Their brilliance was in no way altered. The new moon was serving them good. He showed her different formations in the sky. The platter of stars suddenly started looking like million small things spread across in the canvas of the night sky. How she loved the way he always managed to surprise her with tiny little experiences.
